Beginnings: a Twist

The sun was shining pretty brightly through the trees. Chris slowly regained consciousness. He realized he had just fallen asleep while on the job and was a bit concerned. He looked around and saw Lawrence still next to him. He was holding what looked like a stick. Chris wiped his eyes. He was still tired from his nap, but his vision slowly focused. Chris was pretty surprised to see Lawrence holding a bow. He had a few arrows stuck in the ground, ready to pick up and fire. Chris looked over at where the bird seed stuff was. He saw a deer slowly nearing it. Lawrence pulled an arrow back. The deer was easily 100 feet away, so Chris was a bit skeptical. Lawrence released the arrow, and to Chris's surprise, actually hit the deer! Chris was pretty amazed at Lawrence's skill with the bow. "That was incredible!" he said.
"Oh, thanks." Lawrence didn't seem too surprised with his hit. Chris assumed he had had plenty of practice. Maybe a marksman or something.
"Oh, and sorry about falling asleep... guess I was pretty tired."
"Well, it isn't like you ever stayed awake in class..."
